About the Faculty

Overview

The Faculty of Desert and Environmental Agriculture at the Matrouh branch passed through many stages before its independence. It began as a branch of the Shatby Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, and commenced studies in 2006 under the old agricultural production program. In 2013, a Ministerial Decree amended the executive regulations of the Universities Organization Law to add the Matrouh branch of Alexandria University. In 2017, a Ministerial Decree applied the internal regulations of the Shatby Faculty of Agriculture’s Bachelor’s program at the Desert and Environmental Agriculture College in Matrouh under the credit-hour system. In 2018, Prime Ministerial Decree No. (1715) declared Matrouh University independent.

Vision

The faculty aspires to be a leader in education and scientific research in the reclamation, cultivation, and development of desert and semi-desert regions.

Mission

The faculty seeks to provide specialized and distinguished university education of the highest quality according to global standards in academic training, research, and innovation, to supply the community with cadres capable of meeting labor market needs and advancing agricultural and environmental development in desert societies, and to promote scientific research for sustainable, high-yield, and competitive agriculture.
