Overview
The college was established in 1991 as a branch of the Faculty of Education (Alexandria University) in Matrouh Governorate. By Ministerial Decree No. 436 of 2013, certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Universities Organization Law were amended to add the Matrouh branch of Alexandria University, thus separating the Matrouh Faculty of Education from Alexandria’s. By Prime Ministerial Decree No. 1715 dated September 3, 2018, Matrouh University became independent from Alexandria University.

The Faculty of Education (Matrouh University) aspires to be an academic educational institution that advances educational knowledge and its applications to serve society and the world, shaping the realm of teaching and learning.
Mission
The mission of the Faculty of Education, Matrouh University, is to build concepts and take actions to form educational cadres and develop education at all levels, in cooperation with the university’s faculties, the Ministry of Education, public and private schools, and other related ministries such as Culture, Media, and Youth. From this core mission arise direct tasks: continuously training teachers, preparing outstanding pre-service teachers, developing them professionally during service, enhancing educational research to produce pedagogical knowledge, and formulating policies and programs that serve and develop society.
