Matrouh University organized a major celebration on Monday to honor Dr. Mostafa Youssef El-Naggar, the outgoing University President, in appreciation of his sincere efforts and outstanding achievements during his term in office.
The ceremony was attended by prominent officials and community figures. Among those present were Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh; Major General Ashraf Radwan, Head of the Administrative Control Authority Office in Matrouh; Senator Saleh Sultan, Member of the Senate and Head of the Parliamentary Bloc for Matrouh Governorate; MP Fathia El-Senousi; Bishop Karas of the Orthodox Church; Sheikh Abdel Hakim Sultan, Director of Preaching at the Al-Azhar Region in Matrouh; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Karim Abaza, former Vice President of Alexandria University for Matrouh Branch Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Amr El-Masry, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; along with a host of deans, vice-deans, faculty members, security officials, tribal sheikhs, and community leaders from Matrouh.
In his speech, Major General Khaled Shuaib expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the University President, praising the remarkable progress achieved under his leadership in academic performance and the growing focus on scientific research, and wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.
Dr. Mahmoud Abbas expressed his pride in Dr. Mostafa’s continuous dedication and tireless work in serving the university, affirming that he never hesitated to offer his knowledge and time for the benefit of the institution.
Dr. Amr El-Masry confirmed that the university has lost a unique leader known for his precision, dedication, and constant efforts to elevate the university's status.
Bishop Karas expressed his love and appreciation, stating that the University President had made unprecedented contributions and commending his sincerity and devotion to work.
Sheikh Abdel Hakim Sultan stated that “God does not let the reward of good work be lost,” wishing that these efforts will be counted in his favor.
Haj Ahmed Haboun, a respected figure in civil society, also expressed his pride in Dr. Mostafa, describing him as a rare model of sincerity and giving, adding that today’s honoring is well-deserved.
In a heartfelt moment of farewell mixed with pride, Dr. Mostafa Youssef El-Naggar delivered an emotional speech that touched everyone present. He said:
Today, I have nothing but deep gratitude for everyone who walked this journey with me. Since my first day leading this university, my sole aim was to lay a true foundation for its future and to make Matrouh University a beacon of knowledge worthy of the history and people of this land.
He added:
I thank every colleague, every official, every worker, and every student who helped me, stood by me, and contributed to the building process. I have always believed that success is never made individually, but collectively — through teamwork, integration, tolerance, and honesty.
He then extended his deepest thanks and appreciation to his family, saying:
I must extend my highest thanks and appreciation to my beloved family, who have always been my true support and greatest motivation throughout the years of work, especially during times of fatigue and pressure. My family was my source of strength and the reason behind every achievement. You are my true journey companions and the pillar that never wavers.
He concluded his speech by saying:
To everyone I’ve worked with — thank you from the heart. To everyone who supported me — may God reward you. And to everyone who believes in the university — keep going. The dream has not ended; it has just begun.
At the end of the ceremony, Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, presented the Governorate’s Shield to Dr. Mostafa Youssef El-Naggar in recognition of his remarkable career and significant efforts in developing Matrouh University, amidst warm applause from the audience.
University vice presidents, deans, executive, security, and media leaders, faculty members, and Sheikh Abdel Hakim Sultan also presented commemorative shields and certificates of appreciation to Dr. Mostafa as a gesture of loyalty and in recognition of the high respect he holds among his colleagues, students, and community partners.
Dr. Mostafa El-Naggar, in turn, honored Haj Ahmed Haboun, a distinguished figure in the Matrouh community, who also presented a unique commemorative gift to the University President as an expression of his affection and appreciation. Additionally, Dr. El-Naggar honored the deans who had concluded their terms of office, in recognition of their contributions to the university’s journey and appreciation for their efforts during their tenure.
